Emily Blunt captured the attention of netizens by showing up to the Berlin premiere of The Smashing Machine in an optical illusion, liquid naked dress. In the film, the 42-year-old plays Dawn Staples, the wife of Dwayne Johnson’s Mark Kerr. Reviews for the film have praised both Johnson and Blunt’s performances, with some specifically mentioning the latter as a highlight of the film. The movie was written and directed by Benny Safdie, who also co-produced and edited the film.
Emily Blunt turns heads in optical illusion dress
At the Berlin premiere of The Smashing Machine, Emily Blunt wore a naked sheer liquid dress with spaghetti straps and a deep neckline that accentuated her toned figure and extended into a trailing pleated tulle skirt. Further, the A Quiet Place star wore a navy blue bra over the dress that added some contrast. She paired the attire with Jimmy Choo shoes.
Blunt accessorized with Tiffany & Co. and Rahaminov Diamonds jewelry. These included a thin gold snake-shaped necklace, a pair of diamond hoop earrings, a bracelet, and rings. She styled her hair in a sleek updo that had a coiffed bun at the back, a center part, and curtain bangs in the front.
The Oscar nominee’s attire was the Satin Bra and Sequin Underlay Tulle Gown. Designed by David Koma, it retails for $3,231. Moreover, according to the official website, it pairs well with black slingback pumps and a black DK Mini City bag.
Blunt’s outfit sparked a number of positive reactions. “So beautiful,” a user wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“EMILY BLUNT YOU’RE SO FINE,” another user added.
“My love forever,” yet another user commented.
The Smashing Machine will be released in theaters on October 3, 2025. As of writing, the film has a 76% score on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer.
The film has received largely positive reviews. The Ringer’s Adam Nayman has called Dwayne Johnson’s casting as Kerr “on the (prosthetic) nose.” He said the actor’s work on the film was “remarkable” because of “how little of the Rock” came out.
Meanwhile, Big Gold Belt Media stated that although Johnson gave “a career-defining performance,” it was Emily Blunt who stole the show.
CBC Radio‘s Radheyan Simonpillai called Blunt “the heavyweight performer delivering an electric charge to a somewhat dramatically flat answer to Raging Bull.”
