Mike Heslin’s husband files lawsuit after the actor’s tragic death
Hallmark actor Mike Heslin’s husband, Scotty Dynamo, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit after Heslin’s sudden death in Las Vegas.
The complaint, filed on September 18, claims staff at Javier’s at the Aria Hotel failed to provide life-saving measures. Court documents state that the 35-year-old Lioness star “exhibited obvious signs of a medical emergency” (via Daily Mail). Employees allegedly blocked CPR attempts and stopped bystanders from helping.
The lawsuit states that restaurant staff failed to retrieve an automated external defibrillator (AED) from the property. Dynamo and his friends alleged that staff “forcefully removed” them from the resort and threatened them with arrest when they tried to provide aid or record the incident. The filing accuses the defendants of negligence, gross negligence, wrongful death, and negligent hiring and training practices. It also cites “avoidable tragedy” that Dynamo claims directly contributed to Heslin’s death.
In a separate account obtained by Us Weekly, Dynamo stated Heslin collapsed while dining with friends, prompting immediate calls for help. Witnesses attempted CPR, but the suit claims an employee “forcefully removed” a woman performing compressions. The filing also alleges that Javier’s and Aria Resort failed to activate emergency protocols or deploy the AED. Dynamo is seeking damages exceeding $30,000, funeral costs, and punitive damages, with a separate claim noting $15,000 in damages filed under Nevada statutes.
MGM Resorts International, parent company of the Aria, denied the allegations in a statement: “These claims are not aligned with the facts, and we will respond through the legal process.” Dynamo previously announced on Instagram in July 2024 that Heslin died after an “unexpected cardiac arrest,” adding that doctors had “no explanation for what happened.” He remembered his husband as “young, in perfect health,” and described him as his “soulmate.”
