As fans continue to wait for more details on the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, a new piece of artwork for the movie has popped up on the internet and provided an interesting glimpse at the film’s cast. The artwork, which appears on a special piece of Doomsday merch, features animated versions of the confirmed superheroes set to appear in the much-awaited Avengers sequel. However, it curiously left out the images of six MCU mainstays, raising several eyebrows as a result.
These major Avengers are missing from new Doomsday art
Renowned SFX and makeup artist Gi Ponci recently took to her Instagram profile to share a picture of the bag that Marvel Studios seemingly handed over to the entire Avengers: Doomsday crew as a token of their appreciation. The image shows an imprint of all the characters that have already been confirmed for the film, including the Fantastic Four, the returning X-Men, and Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. However, fans were quick to notice the absence of six MCU veterans from the art on the Avengers: Doomsday merch. The most notable heroes that do not appear are:
- Chris Evans’ Captain America
- Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel
- Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange
- Tom Holland’s Spider-Man
- Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord
- Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk
While the absence ended up worrying several Marvel fans, many other fans pointed out that the art only included the characters that Marvel Studios had already confirmed during their five-hour-long Avengers: Doomsday cast reveal. As such, this could simply be a part of keeping the precise details of the film’s cast under wraps, rather than being a complete reflection of the movie’s final cast.
Recent reports have suggested that Chris Evans will play a part in Avengers 5. However, it remains unclear whether he’ll be reprising his iconic role as Steve Rogers for the film or not. Meanwhile, Holland and Ruffalo will return as Peter Parker / Spider-Man and Bruce Banner / the Hulk, respectively, for the upcoming movie Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Apart from them, there is little information regarding the involvement of Doctor Strange, Star-Lord, or Captain Marvel in Avengers: Doomsday.
Given that the aforementioned heroes have a prominent place in the MCU’s lore, fans can certainly expect to see them in Avengers: Secret Wars if they do not make an appearance in 2026’s Doomsday.
