Elton John recently gave his house keys to rising star Lola Young after losing a friendly bet about her single reaching number one on the charts. The 78-year-old music legend has struck up an unlikely friendship with the 24-year-old English singer, who posted a wholesome video poking fun at John’s bet about the house.

Young shared the video on Instagram with the caption: “So… since D£aler isn’t no. 1 yet, @eltonjohn had to give me his house (as promised). I’m sure this is the last time he’ll make a bet… Thanks @eltonjohn, love ya x.”
In the video, the Rocket Man singer says, “I’m here with Lola, and I said, ‘Lola, if your single didn’t get to No. 1, I would give you the keys to my house.’” Lola replies, “Yeah, I know, I’ve been waiting.” John continues, “It’s not there yet, and it better hurry up, but in the meantime I’m giving you the keys to the house. But can we stay the odd night?” — referring to himself and his husband.
Young responds, “No sorry, it’s mine now… Look at it, I mean, it’s mine now, Jesus Christ.” John concludes, “Me and my big mouth.”
The wholesome video drew many reactions from fans on Instagram.
John has also expressed support for Young before. Earlier this year, Young appeared on John’s Apple Music show, where he called her song the “biggest smash” he had heard in years. During that episode, he offered his house to her if it didn’t reach No. 1. “Lola, I’ve been listening to you ever since you started. It’s so exciting to see someone take hold of themselves and grow before your very eyes,” John told her at the time.
