Mark Ruffalo Comes Forward to Support Jimmy Kimmel Amid ABC Suspension

MCU star Mark Ruffalo has slammed Disney for the indefinite suspension of Jimmy Kimmel’s talk show. On September 20, the actor made a Threads post, sharing a report about Disney stocks falling after the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live! talk show. Adding to the news piece, Ruffalo wrote, “It’s going to go down a lot further if they cancel his show. Disney does not want to be the ones that broke America.”

Ruffalo is among the many stars who have spoken up against the suspension. Fellow Disney star, Pedro Pascal, who joined the MCU this year as Mister Fantastic, has also defended the talk show host. On September 19, the actor shared a selfie with Kimmel on Instagram with a powerful caption, “Standing with you @jimmykimmellive Defend #FreeSpeech Defend #DEMOCRACY.”

Additionally, She-Hulk star Tatiana Maslany encouraged her fans on Instagram to cancel their Disney+ subscription as a protest against Kimmel’s talk-show suspension. Damon Lindelof, a co-creator of the ABC hit series Lost, also declared that he will never work with Disney again if the suspension is not lifted.

Other popular celebrities who are standing with Kimmel include Grammy-winning artist Olivia Rodrigo, as well as fellow/former late-night talk show hosts Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien, and David Letterman.

ABC, which currently operates under Disney Entertainment, recently sparked widespread outrage after suspending Kimmel’s talk show on September 17, 2025. The announcement came shortly after the Federal Communications Commission’s criticism of Kimmel’s remark on the assassination of Charlie Kirk. The talk show host had stated that “the MAGA gang” was “desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them.”
