Melania Trump’s ‘Distracting’ State Banquet Dress Isn’t One of Her Best Looks, Says Stylist

Melania Trump’s dress for the state banquet during her visit to the United Kingdom stirred the pot, with some believing it was not “quite right.” On the second day of her visit to the U.K., alongside President Donald Trump, the first lady opted for a bold look, a bright yellow off-the-shoulder number. The couple had dinner with King Charles, Queen Camilla, and the rest of the royal family. Despite the internet talking about it, a stylist dubbed it “distracting,” claiming it wasn’t her best look.

Celebrity stylist critiques Melania Trump’s off-the-shoulder state banquet dress: ‘It’s distracting’

Melania Trump’s state banquet dress was quite the head-turner during her U.K. visit, but not according to a celebrity stylist who critiqued it. Samantha Brown exclusively told the Daily Mail about the yellow off-shoulder gown, claiming she found the “styling distracting,” especially when paired with a pink belt and emerald chandelier earrings. She further noted the “many touch-points” and asserted that people “should be looking at her first and the dress second.”

Brown also asserted that the first lady’s Carolina Herrera number with an off-the-shoulder neckline was a bold choice. The report pointed out this detail, especially because others donned regal gold lace, tiaras, and dapper tuxedos. Moreover, she claimed that the butter yellow color of Melania’s ensemble felt “like a summery choice, and not quite right for the season” and the English weather, which is ever so cloudy.

The stylist later opined that Melania Trump usually “makes strong” and “informed wardrobe choices,” but her state banquet dress was subpar for her U.K. visit. Brown felt that it failed to “rank with her best looks.”

However, New York-based personal stylist Liz Teich had different thoughts about the look. She first addressed the confusion surrounding the color of the gown, revealing that “photographers always play with saturation, curves, and contrast” in their shots.

Teich believes the paparazzi might have “tweaked” the former model’s dress to give it a “bolder” shade than it actually was. She passed on this judgment from the look of the “saturation of all of the other colors in the image.” Explaining how yellow often associates with optimism, the stylist opined that Melania was likely “seeking something cheerful for this visit.” The first lady paired the gown with a pair of nude stilettos.
