While Netflix’s hit action thriller series The Night Agent is returning for Season 3 soon, Luciane Buchanan, who plays the fan-favorite character of Rose Larkin, won’t be returning. In a recent interview, the Chief of War star confirmed that she won’t be coming back for the next chapter of the franchise, all the while hinting at a possible cameo in later installments.
Luciane Buchanan’s Rose to sit out of The Night Agent Season 3
While speaking with Deadline, Buchanan confirmed that Rose will not appear in the upcoming third chapter of The Night Agent as the writers wanted to focus on the journey of Gabriel Basso’s rogue FBI operative, Peter Sutherland.
“As much as that show has been so amazing, especially for my career — being a lead on a U.S. show from little New Zealand was such a whirlwind — the writers decided that they wanted to follow Peter and his journey based on what happened at the end of Season 2,” Buchanan said about her absence in The Night Agent Season 3.
Explaining the writers’ decision to leave her character out of the next season of The Night Agent, the 32-year-old actress stated, “They were like, ‘We’ve been trying to find a way to bring [Rose] in, but we want to do her character justice and not make her a sub-character.’ I totally respected that decision and agreed. I was like, if it makes sense to a story, I’ll do that. If it doesn’t, let’s not force that.”
Nevertheless, Buchanan remains hopeful of a potential return to The Night Agent after Season 3. “We don’t get to see what happens to Rose. But I think it’s a really exciting time for the show, and who knows, it’s not a goodbye forever. I’m sure [creator] Shawn Ryan and his team will find a little way. Maybe we’ll make a little cameo along the way,” she said.
