Yes, iOS 26 Drains iPhone Batteries Faster — Here’s Why

Apple has addressed iPhone batteries draining faster than usual after the iOS 26 update. Fans have been complaining about the poor battery life after the new iPhone software went live. The company has now answered the queries, explaining the reason behind the issue.

Apple confirms iOS 26 drains battery

Shortly after the release of Apple’s iOS 26, users began complaining that their iPhone battery now drains faster than normal. Apple has now responded to the concern on their support page, assuring users that they have nothing to worry about and that the issue is temporary.

“This is normal, as your device needs time to complete the setup process in the background, including indexing data and files for search, downloading new assets, and updating apps,” Apple explained. “Immediately after completing an update, particularly a major release, you might notice a temporary impact on battery life and thermal performance,” they clarified further.

Additionally, personal iPhone usage by users can also contribute to quicker battery drainage. Apple has confirmed that the latest features may require more power to run smoothly, so the battery life depends on how much someone uses their iPhone.

“New features are exciting and help you get even more out of your Apple product, though some may require additional resources from the device. Depending on individual usage, some users may notice a small impact on performance and/or battery life,” Apple explained.

Apple announced the arrival of this year’s iPhone software, the iOS 26, at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June. The update went live on Monday, September 15, introducing a string of new features. These include the new Liquid Glass redesign that changed the appearance of the lock screen, icons, and more.

The new software also unveiled the new call screening feature that answers calls from unknown numbers and asks for their name and reason for calling. It then sends you an alert, allowing you to decide whether to take the call.
