Eric Dane did not appear at the 2025 Emmy Awards, even though he was scheduled to present at the ceremony. He was also slated to participate in the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Grey’s Anatomy. However, Dane remained absent from the ceremony. His absence led to concern among fans, as the actor had disclosed his amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) diagnosis months earlier.
Eric Dane pulled out of Emmys presentation
While ALS may not explicitly be the reason Eric Dane did not present at the 2025 Emmy Awards, fans expressed concern for the actor’s health and well-being. Jesse Williams, Dane’s former Grey’s Anatomy costar, appeared at the ceremony and presented for the Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series category.
Just before the ceremony, Williams spoke about Dane and said he had a wonderful time working with him. “He’s solid, the man’s just solid,” he added. “We have to be careful as men to still take care of ourselves, and he’s got a perfect balance going. That’s my guy,” Williams concluded (via PEOPLE).
Five months ago, Dane publicly revealed his ALS diagnosis. The award ceremony took place after that announcement. Also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, Mayo Clinic describes the disease as, “a nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. ALS causes loss of muscle control. The disease gets worse over time.”
Dane, however, stated that he wants to continue working despite his diagnosis. He previously said that he was glad to return to the sets of Euphoria and is also continuing with his other projects.
As for his absence from the Emmys, neither he nor his representatives have commented. Fans remain concerned that his absence is linked to his health.
Apart from this, the 2025 Emmy Awards delivered several major moments and big wins across categories.
