Apple announced a live language translation feature for the upcoming AirPods 3 Pro earbuds at the new iPhone event, but there is some good news for those who do not want to upgrade for this feature alone. As per the latest announcement, the AirPods 4 with ANC and AirPods Pro 2 models will also get support for this feature.
AirPods Pro 3’s live translation feature will also work on older models
Apple often opts to give out its latest features to its latest devices. However, this time, even the older AirPod models, like the AirPods 4 with ANC and AirPods Pro 2, will have access to the live translation feature. To use this feature, users will require the latest firmware and an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone running iOS 26 and later.
As the name suggests, the live translation feature allows users to translate languages effortlessly in real time. This may make communications in foreign countries much easier and more accessible to users. Several languages, though the support is limited at launch, can be translated in real time while wearing the earbuds. This also makes it a more convenient option compared to using traditional methods of translation.
As per reports, English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish will be supported at launch. Other languages are expected to arrive later, with Italian, Japanese, Korean, and simplified Chinese queued up for later this year. More languages will also be added in the future.
The AirPods Pro 3 earbuds are available for pre-order right now for $249. Other new features in Apple AirPods Pro 3 include a heart rate monitor, improved ANC, and better battery life. Additionally, they can play spatial audio, apart from the live translation.
Numerous other announcements were also made at Apple’s ‘Awe Dropping’ event. This includes the launch of iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, Apple Watch SE, Apple Watch 11 Series, and Apple Watch 3 Ultra.
