Glen Powell Says Tom Cruise Gave Him ‘S***’ for Coffee on Set

Glen Powell is one of the most in-demand actors in the industry right now, with a series of intriguing works lined up, but interestingly, so does Tom Cruise, who turned 63 this year. Powell recently made headlines with his offbeat shoot for GQ, which published an entire feature on the actor. Among many other things in this interview, he recalled one interaction with Cruise from Top Gun: Maverick, where the veteran actor compared Powell’s coffee with stool.

The Anyone But You star spoke in his interview about a variety of things, and he also recalled this one interesting exchange with Tom Cruise while discussing definitions of manhood and healthy practices. He recalled the incident from Top Gun: Maverick’s set, where the 63-year-old actor questioned him about his super coffee.

“Cruise gave me shit,” Glen Powell recalled to GQ. “Somebody was like, ‘Hey, do super coffee.’” Super Coffee, as he explained, was coffee with a lot of superfoods mixed with it.

Powell continued, “So you put ashwagandha and reishi and Cordyceps and all these things in your coffee. So I blended it, mixed it up, put it in this kind of a mason jar, and brought it to set. I’m flying that day, so I’m drinking this thing.”

“But it’s all these ground-up mushrooms—it kind of looks like just this hearty, just disgusting,” the Twisters actor continued about Cruise’s reaction, “He kind of looks at me for a second, he’s like: ‘You look like you’re drinking a stool sample. What is that?’ I was like, ‘Okay, this one, I took this too far.’ ”

Evidently, this is quite an interesting exchange between two of the most popular actors right now, and this is extremely offbeat, too.

Meanwhile, Glen Powell will soon appear in Edgar Wright’s The Running Man.
