Fans react to Glen Powell’s muscle suit AI

Glen Powell’s photos for GQ have left fans curious and confused. While many believe it is AI, Powell is actually wearing a hyper-defined lower-body prosthetic muscle suit made by Smitizen. This is giving his upper body a Johnny Bravo-like appearance, leading to so many reactions online.

GQ posted the photos on their X account, and the post’s comments section turned into a whirlwind of speculation and debate among fans. Its caption read, “Glen Powell shot by Bobby Doherty for GQ. In our special October issue, a report on the state of the American male in 2025, our cover star had some fun with the current male hyper-obsession with self-optimization and looksmaxxing.”

“I’m very confused by this cover photo,” one user wrote, while another responded to this with, “Why would he say yes to that?” One user added, “Didn’t even bother to AI?” Another user said, “It looks like an AI fail.”

As such, this new cover shoot has left fans perplexed, with many seemingly missing out on the message that GQ and the creative team are trying to deliver. The gag does seem to be a take on the traditional interpretation of masculinity. Powell, satirically, seemed to emit a lot of alpha male energy. It could also be a throwback to the era of square-jawed, muscled heroes in Hollywood. This is a trend that has slowly shifted away now. Nevertheless, the photos do make it seem like he is doing this quite ironically.

Powell was last seen in Twisters, a 2024 Universal Pictures production. The next projects, The Running Man and Huntington, are currently in post-production. Furthermore, he’s currently filming Ghostwriter, which is being directed and produced by J.J. Abrams. he notably made headlines recently when he took himself out of the running to be the next James Bond.
