On September 6, famous South Korean YouTuber Na Dong-hyun passed away at the age of 46, just two days after he told his viewers that he was extremely sleep-deprived. Known as The Great Library and BuzzBean online, his death has sparked many rumors and debates across social media platforms.
What happened to YouTuber Na Dong-hyun?
Na Dong-hyun, nicknamed BuzzBean and The Great Library, was best known for his gaming videos. With a subscriber count of over 1.4 million and almost 1.6 billion views on his channel, he was indeed one of the most popular YouTubers to emerge from South Korea. He had a loyal fanbase that was left devastated by this tragic development.
The 46-year-old was found dead in his home in Gwangjin-gu on September 6, 2025. The police reportedly went to check on him after an acquaintance reported that the YouTuber had missed a scheduled appointment. There were no signs of a suicide note, nor was there any evidence of a break-in. This led the authorities to believe he had passed away from natural causes.
There was no confirmed cause of death in most reports. However, Yum Cast (Lee Chae-won), the ex-wife of the YouTuber, revealed that he passed away due to Cerebral Hemorrhage (via The Korea Times). She was targeted with allegations of having a part in it right after Na Dong-hyun’s death.
Lee posted a message on YouTube. She said, “I want to make sure no more misunderstandings cause further pain, so I would like to clarify a few things.” Lee also added, “An autopsy was conducted to eliminate any doubt, and the final conclusion was that the cause of death was a cerebral hemorrhage.”
On Thursday, Na sat down for a livestream that ran for five hours. However, it turned out to be his final one. In it, he admitted to having been severely sleep-deprived. He said, “I didn’t get much sleep. I think I slept for about three hours.”
An autopsy had been requested to confirm the cause of Na Dong-hyun’s death. Authorities are also going to look into the possibility of a pre-existing illness.
