WWE RAW announced heartbreaking news this week that John Cena’s farewell tour is not ending at the memorable place they thought it would. The 17-time World Champion is down to just seven dates before he steps away from the squared circle for good.
John Cena to have his final WWE match in Boston in November
On the latest episode of WWE RAW, commentator Joe Tessitore announced that John Cena will wrestle his final Boston match on November 10 at TD Garden.
A week later, he will make his last-ever appearance at Madison Square Garden in New York on November 17, two venues that defined some of the greatest moments of his career. The farewell tour officially ends on December 13, closing the book on one of WWE’s most iconic runs.
The news came after months of uncertainty. Earlier reports claimed Cena’s last match would be in Washington, to the disappointment of fans in Massachusetts. WWE’s latest announcement, however, confirms that Boston will still get one final night with its hometown hero. However, fans could be disheartened that Boston isn’t the last place John Cena has had a match.
However, Cena took to social media to share his thoughts, posting a heartfelt message to fans: “As the Farewell Tour makes its final stops I cannot express how lucky and grateful I am to be invited one last time to @TheGarden and the @tdgarden in Boston! Any Boston fans hitting the @KowloonSaugus after the show?! Might C U there!!” For him, these arenas are more than venues. He won two of his 17 world titles at TD Garden and claimed his first Royal Rumble victory at Madison Square Garden back in 2008.
WWE has yet to reveal John Cena’s opponents for Boston and New York, keeping fans on edge. Speculation runs wild after Brock Lesnar ambushed him at SummerSlam and again during his final SmackDown, hinting at a possible collision at Wrestlepalooza. Others believe Cena’s last fights could come against Gunther or AJ Styles, making the suspense even higher as the dates approach.
Fans eager to witness history can grab tickets starting Wednesday, September 10, at 10 a.m. ET through Ticketmaster, with a presale opening on Tuesday, September 9.
