The Bridgerton star has confirmed that he will take a break from acting next year to concentrate on his charity work with The Shameless Fund.
In an interview with British GQ, Jonathan Bailey explained that after several years of continuous projects, he intends to shift his attention toward the organization he founded in 2024. Reflecting on his packed schedule, he said, “I’ve been working solidly for about three years now, which has been amazing and mind-blowing.”
The 37-year-old thespian added, “But with everything happening in the world right now, I’m going to stop acting for a bit next year and just focus on the Shameless Fund.” Describing his immediate plans for the charity, he said, “Over the next few months, I’ll be focusing on staffing and making sure we get all the right people in all the right places.”
Bailey also stressed the urgency of this work, pointing to the relevant statistics. “There’s this statistic: out of every £100 raised in the UK, only 1p goes to the LGBTQ+ community. You really have to dig to find solutions, and I genuinely think The Shameless Fund is exactly that,” he stated.
The Jurassic World Rebirth actor also outlined his immediate priorities. He shared, “Over the next few months, I’ll be focusing on staffing and making sure we get all the right people in all the right places.”
Even before announcing his temporary pause from acting, Jonathan Bailey had been incorporating The Shameless Fund into his daily life. While promoting Wicked, he frequently chose pink outfits. Explaining the reason behind the choice, he said, “It’s an expression of joy and happiness, and it’s incredibly flattering—a reason why I wore it so much during the Wicked press tour.”
