Scarlett Johansson has spoken publicly for the first time about the attention surrounding her kiss with Jonathan Bailey at the Jurassic World Rebirth premiere.
While promoting her directorial debut, Eleanor the Great, alongside June Squibb at the Toronto International Film Festival, Johansson reflected on the viral moment. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she said, “It was such a funny, silly thing.” The actress also revealed that she and her husband, comedian Colin Jost, barely discussed the subject at home. She said, “It was on everybody else’s mind.”
Johansson also emphasized that affection between actors is not unusual. She explained, “I think actors are just… We have such extraordinary experiences that are in extreme conditions. We live as a family for months, you know, so it really feels [like] we have a lot of love for one another.”
The online discussion started after the London premiere of Jurassic World Rebirth on June 17. As the cast assembled outside Odeon Luxe Leicester Square, Johansson spotted her co-star Bailey and unexpectedly greeted him. The cameras captured Johansson stepping forward and planting a kiss directly on Bailey’s lips while hugging him tightly. Within hours, clips of the encounter spread rapidly across social media.
Jost also addressed the kiss in a more lighthearted way. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Jost joked that the surprise moment with Bailey was like a scene out of the Jurassic Park franchise itself. He said, “I was like, I guess in Jurassic Park terms, the attack always comes from the raptor you never thought was there.” He added, “Of all the threats out there, I wasn’t thinking it was Jonathan!”
