Sydney Sweeney made yet another fashion statement at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), and this time, her optical illusion corset had everyone talking. The actress wore an outfit that blurred the line between classic tailoring and modern shapewear, leaving fans in awe of her fashion choices.
Sydney Sweeney wears sheer corset suit at TIFF
On September 6, Sydney Sweeney stepped out for Variety Studio during TIFF to promote her upcoming film Christy.
Styled by Molly Dickson, she wore a gray tweed suit with a plunging neckline and an unexpected twist, literally. The blazer twisted below her bust and wrapped around her back, fully exposing a sheer corset that highlighted her waist. To complete the look, she paired the illusion top with low-rise matching pants, long blonde waves, and minimal jewelry.
Fans immediately reacted online. One joked that they mistook the corset detail for a tan line, while another gushed, “She really is breathtaking.” Some kept it short and sweet with, “Finally something cute,” while others went all out, calling her “The most Beautiful and Gorgeous woman in the face of earth.. Goddess..” This appearance continued her recent embrace of corseted fashion, following a blush pink Erdem gown with an exposed hip she wore just the day before for the Christy premiere.
Apart from this, Sydney Sweeney was there to debut her performance in Christy, an emotionally intense biopic about trailblazing boxer Christy Martin. Directed by David Michôd, the film follows Martin’s rise as the most famous female boxer of the 1980s and her survival of a violent attack by her husband and former trainer in 2010.
Sharing the stage with Martin herself during the film’s premiere, Sweeney got visibly emotional. “Christy, you are absolutely incredible, and I’m so honored,” she said through tears. “And so being able to have her by my side during this process was a dream…she’s the greatest boxer in the entire world, and I’m having to do hooks and hits, and I’m like, I hope and do this.” (via Variety)
