Cardi B marked her courtroom victory this week by posting a viral video.

On Tuesday, a Los Angeles jury cleared the 32-year-old rapper of assault in a $24 million civil lawsuit. Security guard Emani Ellis had filed the case after an alleged 2018 altercation outside a Beverly Hills medical office. Ellis accused Cardi, then pregnant with her first child, of spitting, scratching, and striking her.

Ellis first sued in 2020, but jurors—six men and six women—ruled that Cardi was not liable. After the verdict, Cardi told reporters, “The next person to try to do a frivolous lawsuit against me, I’m going to counter sue and I’m going to make you pay, because this is not OK.” She also explained the strain of attending trial while preparing for her upcoming album, Am I the Drama?, scheduled for release on September 19. “Even if I’m at my death bed, I swear to God, I will say it at my death bed—I did not touch that woman,” she stated.

Following the ruling, Cardi posted a TikTok video wearing a polka dot blazer, unbuttoning it before stripping to a thong and twerking while teasing her new single Bodega Baddie.

She ended the clip by slapping her backside and flipping off the camera. She captioned the post: “Walking out of court likeeee. #BodegaBaddie.”

She also posted the same video on her Instagram, writing “Bodega Baddie” in the caption.

Ellis reacted to the outcome by saying, “I don’t think that it reflects the truth, but I’m not disappointed. We know that the justice system is sometimes flawed, and unfortunately that was the case for me.” She added, “I had my day in court, I showed up, I held my head high.”

The trial attracted wide attention on social media. Cardi’s testimony included sarcastic responses and facial expressions that went viral, with clips of her court exchanges drawing comparisons to a reality show. At one point, she threw a pen at a reporter who asked if she was pregnant, responding, “Don’t disrespect me.”
