Miley Cyrus has opened up about how her mother, Tish Cyrus, influenced her dating choices. In a candid new interview, the pop star revealed that her mom often encouraged her to stay in relationships with the wrong men simply because they were “hot.”

Miley Cyrus recently opened up about her mother’s unusual dating advice. During a joint interview with The Cut alongside Tish Cyrus and her sisters Brandi and Noah, the pop star revealed that her mother frequently pushed her to stay with men simply because of their looks.
Miley admitted, “Mom’s always wanted me to stay with the wrong guy ’cause they’re hot.” Meanwhile, Tish defended her approach with humor. “That was great advice because after so many years, you’re kind of over it,” she said. Tish explained that being with someone attractive had its perks, saying, “at least you get to look at somebody that’s frigging hot!”
However, the pop star disagreed, emphasizing that she had to unlearn those lessons on her own. She said, “I had to learn that the hard way because my mommy taught me the wrong way, and then I had to learn the right way by myself.” Speaking about her relationship with current partner Maxx Morando, Miley explained, “No, I ended up with a person who means a lot to me and treats me really well and respects me.”
The Flowers singer also pointed out that her mother never emphasized respect as a priority in a partner. She said, “I had to find someone who treats me with respect. And then Mom never really put that on the top three of her must-haves. Mom was like, They need to be tall.”
On the other hand, Brandi insisted that their mother’s advice had worked well in her own case. She proudly called her partner “hot as hell.” She also defended her mother, saying that Tish “has evolved.” To this, Miley replied, “That’s because she found someone that is hot and respects her.”
