Another CEO becomes the center of controversy after snatching a cap from a kid during Kamil Majchrzak’s match at the US Open. The video capturing the shocking moment has now gone viral on the internet.
Here are all the details.
CEO faces backlash after the US Open hat incident
The incident allegedly took place during Polish tennis player Kamil Majchrzak’s match against Karen Khachanov on Thursday at the US Open. The clip shows the tennis star offering his cap to a young boy. However, before the kid could grab it, a man sitting beside him snatched it instead.
The footage soon made waves on social media, drawing widespread criticism from users online. Several media outlets have since identified the man to be Piotr Szczerek, a Polish CEO of a budding company. He continues to face backlash for his inconsiderate behaviour, with many netizens branding him as the “most hated man on the internet.” Many fans are also comparing the incident to the infamous Coldplay kiss-cam scandal, where another CEO was globally shamed for his actions.
As per Sky News, Majchrzak reached out to his fans on his Instagram in search of the boy. After getting a hold of him, he posted a story saying, “I am impressed by the power of the Internet. We got it! All good now.”
The tennis pro later reunited with the young fan and personally handed him a cap to make up for the incident. In a heartwarming video posted on his official Instagram account, Majchrzak shook hands with the boy before giving him a gift bundle. “Today, after warm-up, I had a nice meeting. Do you recognise [the cap]?” he wrote in the caption.
Majchrzak added another story sharing the frame with the kid, commemorating the adorable encounter. He captioned the post saying, “Hello World, together with Brock, we wish you a great day!”
During his match against Leandro Riedi on Saturday, Majchrzak had to retire early due to an injury. He later confirmed that he has torn an intercostal muscle.
