Micah Parsons Traded to Green Bay Packers From Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys traded their star defensive end, Micah Parsons, to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, August 28, 2025. This comes after Parsons and the NFL team couldn’t reach an agreement regarding a contract extension. Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones also addressed the trade in a recent statement and shared that it would help their side get better.

Micah Parsons confirmed to have a Green Bay Packers contract

NFL defensive end Micah Parsons has been traded to the Green Bay Packers by the Dallas Cowboys. As part of the trade, Parsons has landed a whopping $188 million contract with the Packers, making him the highest-paid non-QB in the league. This includes $136 million in total guarantees and $120 million at signing. In exchange for Parsons, the Cowboys have obtained defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round draft picks (via NFL).

Parsons took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to pen a letter for his fans. He wrote, “I never wanted this chapter to end, but not everything was in my control. My heart has always been here, and it still is. Through it all, I never made any demands.”

The NFL star continued, “I never asked for anything more than fairness. I only asked that the person I trust to negotiate my contract be part of the process.” The letter further reads, “This is a sad day, but not a bitter one.”

He concluded it by saying, “Thank you, Cowboys Nation, for every cheer, every moment, and every ounce of love you showed me. Wearing the star has been the honor of my life. With gratitude and love. #11.”

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones interacted with the press recently, where he stated that the trade “was in the best interest of our organization.” Speaking of Parsons, he added, “He was an asset we got four good years out of. But when you’re talking about making the contract that he got and for the future, that’s quite a commitment. None of that counts about what he did the first four years.”
