Austin Butler and Tom Hardy’s hardcore exercise revealed
A recent report published by Men’s Health, one of the world’s largest men’s magazine brands, has provided insight into how Tom Hardy and his Bikeriders co-star Austin Butler were able to physically transform themselves for the critically acclaimed crime drama.
According to the update, it was Hardy who came up with the plan to get into shape for The Bikeriders, with Butler following in his footsteps soon after. The Dark Knight Rises star embraced a schedule where he would don a weighted vest and practice a whopping 1,000 weighted box jumps after coming home from filming. Seeing Tom Hardy’s progress, Austin Butler also drew inspiration from the same 1,000 rep workout to get ripped for the film.
In addition, the Dune: Part Two actor also included a few mundane habits in his routine, like spending time on his balcony in the afternoons to enjoy the sun. Butler practiced workouts six or seven times a week while also maintaining a balanced, protein-rich diet, which included omelettes, chicken kebabs, and the occasional steak. Describing his routine in simple words, Butler noted, “Sometimes it’s the mundane little things.”
Fans who wish to follow Butler and Hardy’s hardcore exercises, albeit in a less extensive way, can switch the box jumps with box step-ups, while also reducing the reps according to their strength. Another alternative could be air squats, with an adjustable weighted vest to control the routine’s difficulty.
