The Conjuring Lead Actors Respond to Matt Rife Buying Real-Life House

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, who play Ed and Lorraine Warren, recently reacted to the purchase of The Conjuring house. For context, the famous property was bought by comedian Matt Rife earlier this month. The sale price currently remains publicly undisclosed.

Farmiga also revealed her long-standing curiosity about the estate’s future and is now interested in learning what plans Rife has for the property. Here are more details about the Conjuring stars’ comments on Rife’s purchase.

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga question Matt Rife’s ‘intentions’ behind buying The Conjuring house

In a conversation with PEOPLE, Farmiga and Wilson shared their thoughts on Rife’s purchase. Farmiga revealed, “I’d love to pick his brain.” After learning about the Conjuring house sale, she immediately sent the news to Wilson. She added that she had long been curious about the fate of the Warrens’ estate. Now, with the property officially sold, she is also eager to know Rife’s “intentions” for it.

Echoing similar sentiments, Wilson added, “It’s a private little street. There are neighbors everywhere. [The Warrens] lived in the same house for a long, long time, so it’s not like some estate on a massive acreage. It’s just on a block. It’s a normal house on a street in Monroe, Connecticut.” He also expressed his curiosity about the purchased Conjuring house’s future. “So I am curious. I can’t imagine the people that live on that street want lines of cars paying money to go into the house,” he explained.

In early August 2025, Rife took to TikTok to announce his purchase of the Conjuring house to fans. He said in the video, “We are the legal guardians and caretakers of all 750 haunted artifacts and items in the Warren museum, including the Annabelle doll… We don’t legally own the items, but we are legal guardians and caretakers of the items for at least the next five years.”

In another social media post, he also disclosed his plans for his new estate. He wrote, “We plan to open the house for overnight stays and museum tours so you yourself can experience and learn all the haunted history surrounding this amazing place.”
