In one photo, the 40-year-old singer can be seen walking in the water. Meanwhile, other photos show her sipping a coconut drink while she stands near a male friend whose body is submerged in the water. Pictures of Perry’s outing emerged following reports suggesting her rumored romance with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau fizzled out. Last month, the pair were spotted on a dinner date at the Le Violon in Montreal (via TMZ).
As per The Daily Mail, Trudeau and Perry, who had been near-constantly texting each other in July, experienced decreased communication in the past two weeks.
“She’s busy, he’s busy,” an insider shared. “They have a lot going on, and the newness has worn off. But there’s nothing negative about it.”
They continued, “They just aren’t in constant communication anymore. That could change, but for now, it is what it is. It has cooled off.”
Another insider alleged that Trudeau was unhappy about pictures of his date with the Smile singer making their way online. However, they noted that Perry “didn’t seem to care nearly as much.” Nonetheless, the former accompanied his daughter to the latter’s concert in Montreal.
One source told the publication that the singer and politician were nothing more than friends. They noted that the former wasn’t ready to get back into the dating scene following her split from Orlando Bloom.
“She isn’t ready to start dating anyone right now,” the source claimed. “She has to continue to focus on her healing from separating from Orlando.”
However, the source acknowledged the possibility of Perry and Trudeau’s dynamic changing in the future.
