Matt Rife Says Sydney Sweeney Controversy is ‘C—- Misinterpretation’

Matt Rife is the latest celebrity voice to weigh in on the Sydney Sweeney jeans controversy discourse. He shared his thoughts on the matter on social media and stood up for the latter. In recent months, Sweeney has grabbed massive attention via her bold advertisements, which have capitalized on her looks. However, out of all the ad campaigns she has headlined, only two have found themselves at the center of discussion: the aforementioned jeans campaign and her and Dr. Squatch’s bathwater soap.

Matt Rife took to X (formerly Twitter) to repost a tweet from Pop Base that shared Sydney Sweeney’s reaction to the criticism directed towards her bathwater soap. Rife expressed his support for the latter and shared his thoughts on the criticism, which he felt was pointless. He also mocked Sweeney’s detractors.

“I keep seeing people mad at Sydney Sweeney for noooothing,” the comedian wrote. “She’s learning that the internet is full of absolute garbage losers who will twist anything you say into a c— misinterpretation. People are awful.”

Rife’s tweet sparked a plethora of fan reactions. Several of whom agreed with the I Live Here Now actor’s sentiments.

“Statement couldn’t be anymore true,” one user commented.

Another added, “They truly are awful. Sydney is a delight. Beauty and brains whats not to love about her?!”

Meanwhile, some suggested that Rife was trying to get together with the Euphoria actress, who is currently single after breaking off her engagement with businessman Jonathan Davino. “Trying to get with her. We see you,” a user wrote.

“The Perfect thing to say before you slide into her DMs,” another commented.

Rife is the latest celebrity to express his support for Sydney Sweeney, while the latter is mired in controversy due to her American Eagle jeans ad campaign. Previously, Dr. Phil promised to support Sweeney and buy the apparel company’s jeans. He also called the comparison between the ad campaign and the Holocaust an “absolute insult.”

Moreover, Donald Trump — after learning the Anyone But You actress was a registered Republican — called the latter’s jeans ad “the ‘HOTTEST’ ad” out there on Truth Social.

Notably, Sweeney’s Americana co-star Halsey fired back at those who boycotted the film in response to the American Eagle ad. On her Instagram stories, the singer claimed that the film was “greater than the 24 hr gossip tabloid denim bull––t” (via Page Six).
