In a recent podcast interview, Tom Hiddleston was caught off guard when Taylor Swift was brought up. The pair had a brief romance that ended in 2016. Swift, known for her romantic history with several high-profile celebrities, has never publicly addressed her relationship with the Marvel star. However, the latter has spoken positively of the former whenever the topic of their dynamic surfaced in interviews.

Tom Hiddleston and Karen Gillan sat down for a podcast interview where they discussed their new film, The Life of Chuck. The interviewer kicked off the discussion by asking the two actors how they spent the night.
“I find myself on the sports highlights,” Hiddleston told Heart podcast’s Devin Griffin. “It’s football, or if there’s been a tennis championship I’ve missed.”
The Loki actor shared that he would read articles from sports journalists who wrote “really beautifully about sport,” adding that he loved their content. “It’s kind of nerdy,” he further noted.
In response, Griffin brought up Taylor Swift and how the latter was a “big fan of a sourdough recipe blog.” Recently, Swift shared in an appearance on the New Heights podcast that she was currently “xvery deep in a sourdough obsession,” which took up much of her life.
Hiddleston was momentarily shocked by Griffin’s mention of Swift. However, he quickly collected himself and laughed, realizing the latter only wanted to discuss the music superstar’s latest obsession. Subsequently, Gillan shared her thoughts on the Lover singer’s new hobby.
“That feels like an easter egg for something, though,” the Guardians of the Galaxy actress shared. “I think it might be something to do with the Super Bowl.” She speculated that Swift’s new passion for making sourdough was related to the mascot for a city’s NFL team. She noted that she saw a TikTok video talking about the same. Interestingly, fans believe Swift had been referencing the San Francisco 49ers’ mascot, Sourdough Sam, in her appearance on the New Heights podcast. They also think she hinted at a performance at Super Bowl 2026, which will be held in the 49ers’ home stadium, Levi’s Stadium.
Hiddleston responded to Gillan’s theory, remarking, “You’ve got a deep knowledge of the NFL.”
