Denzel Washington Slams Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones

Hollywood legend and longtime Dallas Cowboys fan Denzel Washington recently criticized the football team’s owner Jerry Jones. The two-time Oscar winner expressed frustration towards Jones, but about what? Here are the details.

Here’s what Denzel Washington said about Jerry Jones

During a recent appearance on ESPN’s First Take to promote his new film Highest 2 Lowest, Denzel Washington turned his focus from movies to football, aiming at Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

Washington expressed his frustration with the way Jones has handled the team, especially amid the ongoing contract standoff with star pass rusher Micah Parsons. Parsons, who has recorded double-digit sacks every season since entering the NFL, is holding out and seeking a trade after talks for a long-term extension stalled.

“I don’t like what Dallas is doing… I’m happy for the owner, but the fans ain’t happy,” Washington said. “[Jerry Jones] ain’t thinking about us, the fans. He’s thinking about his pockets. It’s like… there’s box office and there’s the Oscars. Jerry, been a while, huh? You ain’t been to the show, you wouldn’t know… Haven’t been to the show, so you wouldn’t know what it is to win,” he added.

The 70-year-old actor has been a Cowboys supporter since the 1960s, but admitted that Jones’ management has made it harder for him to keep showing that loyalty. Still, Washington insisted he’ll wear his Cowboys hat, even if he’s unhappy with the team’s leadership. Before moving back to talking about his movie, he left Jones with one last piece of advice: “All money ain’t good money, Jerry!”

Since becoming the owner, the Cowboys have had three Super Bowl wins, but none since the 1995 season. The franchise hasn’t reached the NFC Championship Game in nearly three decades, and Jones recently admitted he’s not certain Parsons will be on the field for their opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.
