Costco Recalls Two Popular Foods Over Plastic Contamination

A recall of two popular salads has been issued by Costco over possible plastic contamination. The retailer, along with Ventura foods, have alerted customers who have purchased the Kirkland Signature caesar salad and the chicken sandwich with the caesar salad and have provided instructions on what to do if they have purchased the items in October and November 2025. The recall has been initiated by Costco itself, and there is no FDA report that has been released in connection to this recall. This wouldn’t be the first time this year that products have been taken off shelves due to plastic.

Costco recalling two deli salads in multiple locations

Specifically, Costco and Ventura foods are recalling the Caesar Salad (Item Number 19927) and the Chicken Sandwich with Caesar Salad (Item Number 11444) that have a Sell By Date anywhere from October 17 to November 9, 2025. An alternate name for the salad, as found online at the retailer, is the “Kirkland Signature Caesar Salad with Caesar Dressing & Croutons.”

This is based on a notice of the recall that was issued by the outlet on November 7, 2025, which is late by multiple weeks for affected salads purchased in October.

The “plastic foreign material” was found in the salad dressing of both Kirkland Signature items. Costco recommends that consumers who have purchased the items to “please stop eating the product and return the item to your local Costco for a full refund.”

While the outlet does not provide a list of its stores that have been impacted by this notice, the official page for Costco’s recalls notes that it has pulled the salads from select locations in the Midwest, Northeast, and Southeast United States.

Earlier in November, Costco pulled nearly one million bottles of wine due to them breaking and shattering without warning. A popular pork product sold nationwide was recalled in October after they were found with plastic shards.
