Katy Perry’s fan faints during her Lifetimes Tour show
A Katy Perry concert in Detroit took an unexpected turn when a young fan fainted on stage after being invited up by the singer. During her Lifetimes Tour stop at Little Caesars Arena, Perry continued her tradition of bringing fans on stage to sing along to her 2011 hit “The One That Got Away.” Among those selected was a girl named McKenna, who had caught Perry’s attention from the upper tier of the venue.
After inviting McKenna and her friend on stage, Perry warmly greeted them. But moments later, McKenna collapsed before the performance could begin. Perry immediately responded, kneeling down to check on the girl as crew members and medical staff quickly intervened. The audience began chanting McKenna’s name in a show of support.
Perry gathered the remaining young fans for a group hug and led the arena in a prayer after medical staff took McKenna backstage for treatment. “Dear God, we pray for McKenna, that she will come back fully and brighter and better than ever. Amen,” she said.
The singer also spoke candidly to the audience. “It’s so much. Sometimes you’re so brave and you can get on stage, and it’s overwhelming. I understand that feeling,” she shared, before continuing with her performance of “The One That Got Away.” Later in the show, Perry also assured fans that McKenna was doing fine. “McKenna’s doing great, by the way,” she announced. Perry concluded the segment by shouting McKenna’s name once again and met with cheers from the crowd.
Video clips from the concert have since gone viral, with many applauding Perry’s swift and compassionate reaction.
