In the new film, she plays Sally, a young golfer who becomes acquainted with Sandler’s titular character. Margaret Qualley reveals Adam Sandler was her first crush

Margaret Qualley recently gave an interview in which she described her career beginnings, familial relationships, and other important events in her life. During the discussion, Qualley was asked about her relationship with and marriage to music producer Jack Antonoff. This led to her revealing that her first crush was Adam Sandler.

“My first crush was Adam Sandler in Happy Gilmore and Big Daddy,” Margaret Qualley told Cosmopolitan. She noted that she had been looking for someone with Sandler’s “essence” in those films for her whole life, adding that she found it in Antonoff.

This is not the first time Qualley has expressed her fondness for Sandler. Previously, in an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, she mentioned that she adores the Uncut Gems star and called Happy Gilmore her “favorite movie.” She further showered praise on Sandler, calling him “the greatest of all time.”

Qualley also detailed how she got cast in Happy Gilmore 2. She explained that she contacted her agents and requested them to secure a role for her in the sequel, as she was eager to be a part of it.

Fallon later showed a picture of a text message between Antonoff and Sandler discussing Qualley’s inclusion in the film. In the message, Antonoff claimed that Qualley was good at golf. Upon seeing the message, the actress admitted that she did not know how to play the sport. She said that Antonoff — whom she called a “good husband” — “lied for the sake of the family.”

Subscribers can catch Happy Gilmore 2 on Netflix. Besides Sandler and Qualley, the film’s cast includes Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, and Bad Bunny, among many other stars.
