Blake Lively’s legal battle against It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni continues to intensify, as her lawyers are now calling out misleading reports about her recent deposition. Check out what they said below.
Blake Lively’s lawyer slams Justin Baldoni amid deposition
Blake Lively’s legal team is hitting back hard after reports claimed her July 31 deposition against Justin Baldoni turned into a dramatic “face-to-face showdown.” In a rebuttal filed on August 4, Lively’s attorneys accused Baldoni and his legal team of leaking misleading details to the media to create a “media circus” around the proceedings.
According to court documents obtained by E! News, Lively’s lawyers slammed the suggestion that she arrived at the deposition with an unnecessary “large contingent” of people. They emphasized that the room also included Baldoni himself, his attorney Bryan Freedman, and several other named defendants. These include Wayfarer Studios executives Jamey Heath and Steve Sarowitz, as well as publicist Jennifer Abel. Crisis PR specialist Melissa Nathan was also present.
The legal filing clarified that Blake Lively “affirmatively pursued this litigation.” Additionally was prepared to have her testimony heard in a legitimate legal forum, not through media designed to discredit her.
This latest clash stems from a broader legal dispute between Lively and Baldoni, her co-star and producer on the 2024 film It Ends With Us. In December 2024, Lively filed a California Civil Rights Department complaint. She accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment on set. Her complaint also extended to his production company, Wayfarer Studios, and its associates. She claimed that they orchestrated a retaliatory smear campaign after she spoke out.
Baldoni has consistently denied the accusations. His countersuit against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, where he alleged defamation, was dismissed by a judge in June 2025. The judge ruled that Baldoni failed to provide sufficient evidence to support his claims. His lawyer, Bryan Freedman, previously described Lively’s accusations as “categorically false” and “intentionally salacious.”
