The post showcased artificially rendered images of Bloom and the German politician. It showed them sharing what seemed to be a hearty conversation over dinner at a luxurious establishment.
“Just weeks after announcing his split with fiancée Katy Perry, English actor Orlando Bloom was photographed Friday dining with former German Chancellor Angela Merkel,” the post’s caption read. The Onion added more layers to the joke by writing, “‘Angela kept Orlando laughing all night—he couldn’t keep his eyes off her!’ said an insider source who spotted the pair sipping wine, slurping oysters, and splitting a decadent piece of chocolate layer cake at a Michelin-starred restaurant.”
Taking the post in good spirit, Bloom acknowledged the humor of the meme. He reacted by leaving a series of clapping emojis in the comments section. While the said post does not have any origins in reality, it supposedly references the latest dating rumors. These rumors link Katy Perry with Justin Trudeau.
Paparazzi recently spotted the duo sharing some quality time together at Montreal’s Le Violon restaurant. Following this encounter, Trudeau proceeded to attend Perry’s Lifetimes Tour. This added fire to the speculations connecting the former Canadian Prime Minister with the 13-time Grammy nominee. However, despite the prevalent theories, neither Trudeau nor Perry has officially commented on their rumored link-up.
