‘Travis Kelce Suspended’ Trend Explained Amid Rumors

A social media post recently emerged online, claiming that Travis Kelce was suspended from the NFL. Fans of the football player have thus been wondering whether there was any truth to the claim. The Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end is one of the most recognized players in the NFL. In recent years, his fame has been bolstered by his high-profile relationship with pop sensation and music superstar Taylor Swift. Moreover, he has also expanded his recognition beyond the field, via appearances in projects like Grotesquerie and Happy Gilmore 2.

So, has Travis Kelce been suspended from the NFL? Here’s what we have learned on the subject.

No, Travis Kelce has not been suspended from the NFL.

The reason why fans believed Kelce got suspended was due to an Instagram post from the account Super Real NFL News, alleging the same. The account claimed that Kelce’s appearance in Happy Gilmore 2 was not liked by league executives, and that resulted in his suspension.

The account wrote, “#Chiefs TE Travis Kelce has been suspended indefinitely by the #NFL, per source.” They continued, “League executives didn’t approve of his role in Happy Gilmore 2 and were disgusted by what they described as ‘behavior not reflective of NFL values.'”

However, no official reports or credible sources are backing the aforementioned information. Thus, fans can rest assured knowing that Travis Kelce will be in the NFL for the foreseeable future.

Kelce has faced suspension from football before. During his Sophomore year at the University of Cincinnati, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end was suspended after failing his drug test and testing positive for marijuana.

Travis and Jason Kelce addressed the former’s suspension due to marijuana usage in an April 30, 2025, episode of their New Heights podcast. In the episode, Kelce highlighted the latter’s use of the word “marijuana,” which he found “intense.”

Jason Kelce later delved into how Travis Kelce’s suspension impacted his NFL draft. The former noted how the latter “got drafted an entire round later” than expected.

He continued, “I just think it’s funny sometimes looking back and, like, there are all these concerns about Travis Kelce and, like, everybody whoever knew you knew you were a great kid.” He further stated, “You just had, like, a mess up with weed. Sorry. And then all of a sudden, like, teams aren’t picking you for it.”

Jason Kelce shared how NFL players smoke weed nowadays. He asked, “We’re gonna act like this is a death sentence?” To this, Travis jokingly responded, “Yeah, we are.”
