Martha Stewart has addressed Meghan Markle and Gwyneth Paltrow’s growing presence in the lifestyle space. She offered candid views about the Duchess of Sussex and the Goop founder joining the influencer sphere during a recent interview with Yahoo Lifestyle

When asked about their status as celebrity influencers, Stewart responded, “I don’t mind. Good luck.” She went on to praise Paltrow’s record, highlighting her achievements in business and entertainment. The media icon said, “Gwyneth has been very successful… She created quite an interesting body of businesses. She’s admired. She won an Oscar, for heaven’s sake, as an actress! She’s pretty powerful.”

Turning her attention to Markle, Stewart admitted she wasn’t familiar with the Duchess personally. However, she added, “Meghan, I don’t really know very well, and I hope she knows what she’s talking about.” She emphasized that authenticity and a strong grasp of one’s subject matter are crucial in the lifestyle space. Stewart said, “Authenticity, to me, is everything, and to be authentic and knowledgeable about your subject matter is extremely important.” 

This isn’t the first time Stewart has addressed Markle’s new role in lifestyle media. Back in April, while speaking with Access Hollywood, Stewart said she was “curious” to see how Markle’s Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, turned out. “I’ll watch an episode and see how [Meghan Markle] does,” she said at the time. One month after the release of Markle’s Netflix series, her companion lifestyle brand, As Ever, was launched.
