The phrase ‘Black Sabbath Bridge’ has taken over social media with the rock legend Ozzy Osbourne’s funeral procession approaching. The landmark, dedicated to Osbourne’s legendary band, has become a growing memorial site filled with flowers, letters, and tributes from grieving fans. As photos and tributes flood social media, the landmark is now trending.

Here are more details about it.

What is the ‘Black Sabbath bridge’ trend?

The ‘Black Sabbath bridge’ in Birmingham has been trending on social media. This follows the death of Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary frontman of Black Sabbath. Fans devastated by the loss of the singer have gathered at the bridge to honor his memory. The bridge is named after Osbourne’s band and is located just above Canal Street. It also includes a special bench dedicated to the group’s original four members.

Thousands of people have visited the site, creating a touching memorial. It is filled with candles, flowers, photographs, bat-shaped balloons, and handwritten notes. Among the tributes, one fan even left a carved watermelon bearing the message “RIP OZZY.” The messages left behind express deep admiration, with notes reading, “Ozzy, thank you for your music,” “Birmingham forever,” and “Ozzy, you’re comin’ home RIP forever.” (via The Mirror)

After the overwhelming public response, the city of Birmingham has organized a formal tribute. On Wednesday, July 30, a funeral procession will take place beginning at 1:00 p.m. local time (12:00 GMT). The route will include a stop at the Black Sabbath bridge and memorial bench, where fans have been gathering since his death on July 22. The ceremony will include a performance by the Bostin Brass Band along with other musicians from Birmingham.

Reportedly, a tram named after Osbourne will be parked close to the Birmingham Library. A livestream of the Black Sabbath bench will be available during the event for the fans who cannot attend. (via BBC)
