Seth Green and his wife, Clare Grant, have added to the infamous Coldplay Kiss Cam moment. While attending the LAFC vs. LA Galaxy soccer match last week, the couple recreated the viral video that led to major professional fallout for two tech executives.
Seth Green and his wife spotted recreating Coldplay Kiss cam incident
At the LAFC game, Seth Green and Clare Grant recreated and leaned into the Kiss Cam drama. As soon as they realized they were on the stadium cam, Grant jumped off Green’s lap and covered her face. While Green slowly slid down behind the seat, mimicking the now-viral reactions of Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and HR chief Kristin Cabot. The announcer even repeated Coldplay’s Chris Martin’s viral line, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
The original incident took place during a Coldplay concert, when a Kiss Cam zoomed in on Byron and Cabot, both reportedly married to other people. The two appeared visibly startled, with Cabot pulling away and Byron awkwardly ducking out of frame.
Since then, the internet and celebrities have joined in on the memes about it. Stephen Colbert recently aired a star-studded spoof during The Late Show, featuring cameos by Lin-Manuel Miranda, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, Anderson Cooper, and more. Most of them were caught on a faux audience cam.
Even Astronomer, the company at the center of the drama, seems to be poking fun at itself. In a tongue-in-cheek PR move, they released a video starring Gwyneth Paltrow as their “very temporary spokesperson,” answering viral questions while promoting their data platform, Apache Airflow.
The original Coldplay Kiss Cam incident may have been awkward for those involved, but it has since turned into pop culture fodder, inspiring memes, skits, and now, celebrity recreations. With Seth Green and his wife joining in, this viral moment doesn’t seem to be fading anytime soon.
