Lindsay Lohan Talks About Her Life in Dubai After LA Move

Lindsay Lohan is back in the spotlight, but this time for the life she’s built far from Hollywood. The actress, who rose to fame as a child star in The Parent Trap and Mean Girls, has spent the last decade living in Dubai. Her recent interviews shed light on why she made the move and how the city has transformed her day-to-day routine.

Here’s what Lohan revealed about her decision to leave Los Angeles, how Dubai’s strict privacy laws have impacted her family life, and what matters most to her now.

Lindsay Lohan shares why she loves Dubai

Lindsay Lohan opened up about her decision to move to Dubai during an appearance on LIVE with Kelly and Mark.

The actress, now 39, explained she left Hollywood in 2014 to escape the constant scrutiny from paparazzi and to live a “very normal life.” She said, “It’s just far away from Hollywood. And I live a very normal life. There’s no worry of like, I can’t go eat at this place because someone’s going to take a picture of my son. I feel very safe.”

Lohan emphasized the region’s strict privacy laws, saying, “It’s not legal. You can’t even take a picture of someone else if you’re at a restaurant. You have to ask the person. Which is a big difference. The privacy is unique.”

She also told Elle magazine in May that even routine outings in Los Angeles caused stress. “It’s hard in L.A. Even taking my son to the park in L.A., I get stressed. I’m like, ‘Are there cameras?’” she said. In contrast, she added, “In Dubai I get all of those things. I get the peace, I get the space. I don’t have to worry there; I feel safe.”

In a 2024 Bustle interview, Lohan shared that her early fame was overshadowed by media attention. “I feel like some of [my work] got overshadowed by paparazzi… and that’s kind of annoying. I wish that part didn’t happen,” she said. “Unless there’s no story here, they’re not going to focus on just my work.”

Lohan shares a son with her husband, Bader Shammas, and said her family is her top priority. “I mean, it’s the most important thing: my husband, my son, and me. It’s all about balance… Especially when you have a kid, routine is the most important thing.”
