Ryan Reynolds’ Ad Agency Created Gwyneth Paltrow’s Astronomer Viral Video

The Coldplay kiss cam drama has now also pulled in Ryan Reynolds’ company, Maximum Effort. With Gwyneth Paltrow having already made a surprise cameo as Astronomer’s “temporary spokesperson,” Reynolds’ involvement has only added buzz to the situation.

Ryan Reynolds’ company created Gwyneth Paltrow’s viral video

Following Gwyneth Paltrow’s surprise role as Astronomer’s “temporary spokesperson,” Ryan Reynolds’ marketing firm, Maximum Effort, weighed in with a message posted to X (formerly Twitter).

The post read, “Thank you for your interest in Maximum Effort, @astronomerio! We’ll now get back to what we do best: motion pictures with Hugh Jackman, Fastvertising and Wrexham football. We’ll leave data workflow automation to ̶G̶w̶y̶n̶e̶t̶h̶ ̶P̶a̶ Astronomer.” Reynolds co-founded Maximum Effort in 2018 with George Dewey, producing quirky advertisements and creative content.

Following this, Astronomer co-founder and new CEO Pete DeJoy publicly thanked Reynolds’ team in a LinkedIn post. “I’d also like to thank the team at Maximum Effort for their remarkable work with our very temporary spokesperson,” he wrote. He added that the company is now ready to return to its core mission of delivering “game-changing results.”

The viral frenzy began after Astronomer’s former CEO Andy Byron and head of HR Kristin Cabot appeared on the kiss cam during a Coldplay concert. As the audience watched, Byron attempted to duck while Cabot spun away from the screen. This prompted Coldplay frontman Chris Martin to quip onstage, “Uh oh, what? Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.” That awkward moment, caught on video, spread quickly online.

In the aftermath, Paltrow, who was once married to Martin, made a surprise appearance in a video for Astronomer. Athough she didn’t address the incident directly, she used the moment to promote the company’s products instead. “Thank you for your interest in Astronomer,” Paltrow concluded.
