After news broke online, fans took to social media to share their thoughts on Robbie’s casting. The original film, which has become a cult classic, was released in 1958 and featured Allison Hayes in the titular role. HBO remade the film in 1993, with Daryl Hannah playing the role originally played by Hayes.

Jeff Sneider of TheInsneider recently reported that the Barbie actress would both star in and produce Tim Burton’s Attack of the 50 Foot Woman remake at Warner Bros. Burton was first reported to be making the film alongside Gone Girl scribe Gillian Flynn in 2024 by Variety.
Reports of Margot Robbie’s casting as the movie’s titular protagonist sparked a number of excited reactions on social media.
“Margot Robbie towering over a city in a Tim Burton world? Count me in,” a fan wrote on X (Twitter). “This is gonna be massive in every sense!”
“Margot Robbie and Tim Burton together this remake just got a whole lot more exciting can’t wait to see their vision,” another fan added.
“Seems chill,” a user commented. “She always slays any role she gets tbh.”
Meanwhile, one fan suggested that producers saw a crucial scene in Barbie — where the character is shown as a towering figure — and got the idea to remake Attack of the 50 Foot Woman from that.
The original Attack of the 50 Woman film premiered in May 1958. Allied Artists released the film as a double feature with War of the Satellites. The story follows a wealthy heiress, Nancy Fowler Archer (Allison Hayes), who encounters a giant alien in its round spacecraft. The encounter results in Archer slowly becoming a giantess, greatly complicating her life. In addition, Archer faces troubles with her husband, who cheats on her.
