Rumors have swirled for years that Taylor Swift’s song “Wildest Dreams” was inspired by her brief time working with Alexander Skarsgård. Now, the actor has finally addressed the speculation during a recent podcast appearance. Since then, Skarsgård’s remarks have garnered significant attention.
Here’s what Alexander Skarsgård said about Taylor Swift’s song
Alexander Skarsgård has finally addressed a popular fan theory that links him to Taylor Swift’s 2014 track “Wildest Dreams.” For years, Swift’s fans have speculated that the song was at least partially inspired by her time working with Skarsgård on The Giver, filmed in South Africa in 2013.
Appearing on a new episode of the Armchair Expert podcast, Skarsgård was asked about the theory by host Dax Shepard. The host admitted that he used to tell his daughters that the song was actually about him. He added, “And then in my f—— research today, I read that the song’s about you!”
In response, Skarsgård laughed off the rumor, at first joking that the song was still about Shepard. The host then asked, “Do you have the same fear to either acknowledge or deny that that could be true, because the power of the Swifties is so strong that you don’t even want to talk about it?” The Murderbot star responded, “Yeah,” with a knowing grin.
Rather than denying the speculation, Skarsgård chose to play along. He joked that the real subject of the song was “Brad Pitt.” The actor even quipped that he himself wrote the lyrics and sent them to Swift. Skarsgård said, “Well, I’m gonna be honest. I wrote the lyrics to that song and sent it to Taylor.”
When Shepard pointed out the lyric, “He’s so bad, but he does it so well,” calling it the line of the song, Skarsgård replied, “A lot of people can be bad, but can you do it well? You cannot do it well.” Although Skarsgård offered no confirmation and kept the truth vague, he closed the discussion on a warm note. The star said, “We’re all Swifties.”
