Taylor Swift Documentary To Air on UK’s Channel 4

A new Taylor Swift documentary has been confirmed to release in the United Kingdom on Channel 4. The project drops five years after Miss Americana, a Netflix documentary that followed the 35-year-old music icon during a transitional phase in her career. It also comes out one year after Channel 4 released a documentary based on the singer, The Rise and Rise of Taylor Swift: Untold. This project explored her fanbase’s role in her immense success.

Taylor Swift documentary details explained

A two-part documentary series revolving around Taylor Swift, tentatively titled “Taylor,” is set to be released in the United Kingdom on Channel 4. The project currently does not have a release date. It is also unknown if it will drop in the United States at any point.

According to Deadline, this documentary will follow the musician’s 20-year career. The project will explore various factors that contributed to Swift’s journey to popularity and success via interviews with high-profile commentators, fans, and industry insiders. Moreover, the filmmakers expect the documentary to include “rare archive” footage that will provide new insights into Swift’s story.

Guy King will direct this documentary. King previously helmed Bombing Brighton, The Fall, and Our Falklands War. He expressed excitement at tackling the project in a statement to the outlet:

“Taylor Swift is an unprecedentedly powerful 21st century voice for women and young people,” his statement reads. “Under the microscope of social media since the earliest days of MySpace and Tumblr, she came of age during a new feminist wave.”

It continues, “With her fame came controversy, which she so skilfully wrestled to the floor. We’re excited to tell her story.”

Sandpaper Films, recognized for their work on A Deadly American Marriage, is behind the documentary. Blue Ant will handle the project’s international sales. The producing team includes Jessica Brady, Lina Caicedo, the archive producer, Susannah Price, and Henry Singer. The latter two serve as executive producers. BAFTA-winner Martin Thompson edited the documentary.

Rumors about the documentary first surfaced in April 2025, a month before Taylor Swift reclaimed the masters of her first six studio albums.
