Pedro Pascal Calls Cutting Onions ‘Stupidest Thing Ever’

Gordon Ramsay was recently joined by Pedro Pascal for a cooking segment during the promotional tour of Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Alongside co-star Vanessa Kirby, Pascal attempted to prepare a traditional British dish. However, his approach to chopping onions quickly stole the limelight.

Pedro Pascal fails at cutting onions on Gordon Ramsay’s show

The cooking segment saw Gordon Ramsay guiding Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby as they attempted to cook a British classic: sausage and mash. While Kirby seemed to hold her own in the kitchen, it was Pascal who unintentionally stole the limelight for his cooking skills.

The Mandalorian and Last of Us star visibly struggled with the task of cutting onions. Despite Ramsay’s clear instructions, Pascal couldn’t hold the knife properly. He had trouble slicing the onions the way it was supposed to, saying it was the “stupidest thing ever.” Ramsay, known for his no-nonsense kitchen demeanor, ended up handing him a bowl of pre-cut onions after watching how he cuts them. “Just now in an interview, I learned Pedro is a bad cook,” Kirby joked earlier in the show, foreshadowing the hilarious outcome.

Pascal tried to redeem himself by impersonating Salt Bae, the viral Turkish chef known for his flashy meat-seasoning style. Overall, despite the onion debacle, the kitchen segment wasn’t all fire and fails. Ramsay’s sausages and the actors’ mashed potatoes ultimately ended in a fun tie.

Pascal shared some sweet behind-the-scenes moments from the Fantastic Four set. He praised co-star Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who apparently served as the cast’s unofficial chef. “Ebon… would actually make stuff and bring it to set and like feed us,” Pascal said.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces a retro-futuristic 1960s-style world. It stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the core superhero team. The film sets up the group’s fight against Galactus and is part of Marvel’s 2025 release lineup.
