Wendy Williams Shares What She Wants for Her Birthday

Over the years, Wendy Williams’ court-appointed guardianship has generated a lot of headlines and public scrutiny. During her recent outing, the former daytime host didn’t hesitate when asked about what she hoped for this year. Williams stated that she wants to be released from the court-ordered guardianship that has controlled her since 2022.

Wendy Williams says she wants to get out of guardianship

As Wendy Williams prepares to celebrate her 61st birthday on July 18, the former daytime TV host has opened up about her guardianship. Stepping out in New York City on Tuesday night for a celebratory dinner at Delmonico’s steakhouse, Williams arrived in high spirits. She was accompanied by her two attorneys as well as her friend and former executive producer, Suzanne Bass.

Williams didn’t hesitate when a bystander asked her what she was wishing for this year. “Out of guardianship,” she answered, according to TMZ. She has been under a court-ordered financial guardianship for more than two years. This followed concerns from Wells Fargo about possible financial exploitation. The guardianship has become a focal point in increasing public discussion.

In June, Williams’ ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, filed a $250 million lawsuit in New York federal court. It claimed that she has been subject to ongoing mistreatment under the guardianship. The case names 48 defendants, including her guardian Sabrina Morrissey, Judge Lisa Sokoloff, Wells Fargo, the assisted living facility she’s currently residing in, and multiple attorneys connected to her case. Hunter’s legal team argues that Williams has suffered severe abuse and financial misconduct under the current arrangement, claiming her constitutional rights have been violated. According to the lawsuit, she has been isolated from family and friends. Williams is also denied regular phone access and is being held at the Coterie assisted living facility against her will.

Despite the ongoing legal battle, Williams appeared vibrant during Tuesday’s dinner outing.
