Rumors have been swirling about Sydney Sweeney possibly landing a role as the next Bond girl. The rumors have gained more traction after her appearance at Jeff Bezos’ high-profile wedding, with growing ties with Amazon MGM Studios. However, a new report claims that Sweeney is not in talks to join the James Bond franchise.
New report suggests Sydney Sweeney is not the next Bond girl
Although Sydney Sweeney has been rumored to be a part of the next James Bond film, a new report has dismissed claims that she’s in the running to become the next Bond girl. According to TMZ, there are currently no talks underway for Sweeney to join the upcoming 007 film being produced by Amazon MGM Studios.
TMZ states that Sweeney is not being eyed for the next Bond movie. Instead, she is involved in other projects with Amazon MGM Studios, including a movie based on a video game and a lingerie brand backed by Bezos and Sánchez through their venture capital firm, Coatue.
The rumors initially gained traction after Sweeney was seen attending Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding in Italy last month. Her presence prompted speculation that she might be part of Amazon’s Bond reboot. An earlier report from The Sun even claimed Sweeney was the top candidate for the next Bond girl role, citing her friendship with Dune director Denis Villeneuve.
The report also claimed that the Euphoria star had the support of Bezos, whose company, Amazon, owns the rights to the Bond franchise through Amazon MGM Studios. According to an insider, “Sydney is the top name on the casting sheet for Bond. Denis believes she is hugely talented, as well as having an alluring appeal to younger generations, vital in modernising the franchise.”
While speculation continues over who will be cast in the next chapter of the James Bond franchise, many fans are still hoping Sweeney will be among the contenders.
