SZA’s Dating History Explained

Fans are no strangers to SZA’s private nature when it comes to her personal life. The Grammy-winning R&B singer rarely shares any insights into her love life or whether she currently has a boyfriend. Naturally, many have been curious to get a peek behind the curtains and know more about the relationships that have inspired her passionate tracks over the years.

So, here’s everything we know about SZA’s dating timeline.

Who is SZA’s boyfriend?

SZA has not publicly confirmed if she is currently dating anyone. However, she has been romantically linked with many celebrities over the years. Here’s a list of all her rumored relationships:

Travis Scott (2023)

The pair sparked dating rumors in June 2023 when Travis Scott made a surprise appearance at SZA’s concert in Manchester, England. The pair had already collaborated on several tracks, further fuelling speculations. Additionally, Scott had recently broken up with Kylie Jenner at the time, leaving fans to speculate about a budding relationship with SZA. However, neither Scott nor SZA has officially confirmed the rumors.

Kehlani (2021)

The “Kill Bill” singer was rumored to be romantically involved with Kehlani after fans spotted the pair holding hands at Rihanna’s Met Gala after-party in September 2021. This was followed by an Instagram story by Kehlani on the same night, which featured the pair in a car together. The caption read, “Don’t speak to me or my girlfriend ever again.” Neither of the stars has spoken up about the rumors, and the two continue to be good friends. Additionally, SZA has never publicly addressed her sexuality.

An unknown ex-fiancé (2008—2019)

Despite never revealing his identity, SZA has referred to her long-term engagement with a mystery man in multiple interviews. Rumors suggest that it could be fashion designer Scott Sasso. The R&B star first mentioned her ex-fiancé in her 2023 Rolling Stone cover story, describing him as a recluse who seldom posts on social media. The report further revealed, “They became unengaged five or six years ago, [SZA] says, having been together for a total of 11 years and engaged for five.” SZA also shared that they had dated since high school. She later revealed how the split inspired her song “Nobody Gets Me.”

Drake (2009)

SZA had a brief dalliance with Drake in 2009. She confirmed the fling on X (formerly Twitter), as a response to Drake’s reference to the relationship in his featured verse on 21 Savage and Metro Boomin’s “Mr. Right Now.” SZA wrote, “So It was actually 2009 lol.. in this case a year of poetic rap license mattered lol I think he jus innocently rhymed 08 w wait. Anybody who really knows me and was around during this time can confirm.. it’s all love all peace.” The two continue to remain on cordial terms.
