Despite embodying each other’s arch-nemesis in the upcoming Superman flick, David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult seem to have a playful bond off the screen, as evidenced by Corenswet’s comments about his co-star copying his style. The 32-year-old thespian portrays the titular superhero in James Gunn’s latest directorial venture. He recently took to social media to take a humorous jibe at one of Hoult’s outfits, stating that the Lex Luthor actor has a habit of mimicking his fashion sense.
David Corenswet talks about Nicholas Hoult’s style
On July 9, David Corenswet shared a post on his Instagram profile, comparing his and Nicholas Hoult’s looks.
The Twisters alum posted a carousel of images, featuring his sporty look during an outing in Midtown Manhattan. He donned a pair of white trousers, black boots, and black shades. He also wore a white tank top with a grey sweater knotted around his right shoulder. In the same post, David Corenswet shared a picture of Nicholas Hoult from June 30. The latter was wearing an almost identical outfit with minor differences. Corenswet jokingly captioned the post, “Dude’s been jacking my style since 1998.”
Hoult upheld the spirit of his Superman co-star’s banter by sharing the post on his Instagram story. He added three laughing emojis and a skull emoji, with Rosemary Clooney’s “Sisters” playing in the background.
David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult’s friendly connection was on display in their aforementioned social media interaction. It also shows that the two have great respect for each other’s acting chops. In an earlier interview, Corenswet talked about the time when he discovered that Hoult was also screen-testing for the Superman part. He stated, “I’d give it to Nick.” He further expressed his admiration for the Nosferatu star by adding, “Every time I saw him, I thought, ‘I wanna be like him, and also I’ll never be like him.’”
The duo is collaborating on a major project for the first time in the form of Superman. The film is set to hit the big screens on July 11, 2025.
