Pete Davidson talks about relationship with his grandfather

The King of Staten Island star took to the stage at the North to Shore Festival to share stories from his childhood. He also opened up about his relationship with his “dying” grandfather — his mother Amy’s father.

Pete Davidson revealed that he isn’t “that close” with his maternal grandfather and expressed his dislike for him to the crowd. However, he shared that he had a close relationship with his paternal grandfather, Stephen Davidson. Notably, the latter played a supporting role in The King of Staten Island.

The Meet Cute actor further alleged that his maternal grandfather “beat the s—–” out of him, and reaffirmed his dislike for the latter. The 31-year-old comedian then described his grandfather, calling him “old school” and “very Irish.” “You know those old Irish Jews that are so Irish, they’re like pink, right?” Davidson added. “His veneers are somehow brown. He’s just an old school dude, and he’s dying.” (via Daily Mail)

Moreover, Pete Davidson shared his concern for his mother, who is dealing with her father’s impending demise. He even admitted that he wants “to be there” for her as she is “sad about” the inevitable event. However, Davidson expressed relief at his grandfather passing away soon, stating, “I’m low-key, thrilled. I’m like, ‘die slow motherf—-.'”

The Saturday Night Live alum then explained that his maternal grandfather suffers from emphysema, a chronic lung disease that causes breathing difficulty. He also told audiences that he hopes his grandfather “f—- rots.”

Albeit Pete Davidson stressed that he doesn’t “want to be rude” to his mother, whom he called “the best mom in the world.” He noted that because of this, he has been trying to recall a positive memory with his grandfather that he “could hold on” to. Meanwhile, a source told Daily Mail that Davidson had made the joke “in jest.”
