J.K. Rowling Slams Pedro Pascal After His ‘Bully’ Comment

J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series, has responded to Pedro Pascal‘s recent comment about her in a social media post. This came after The Last of Us actor implied in a recent interview that Rowling was a bully. The feud seems to have started in April 2025 when Pascal referred to Rowling’s public response to a recent UK Supreme Court ruling as “heinous loser behavior” in the comment section of an Instagram post.

J.K. Rowling comments on Pedro Pascal after his recent interview

Rowling recently took to X (formerly Twitter) and shared a screenshot of a report claiming that Pascal had “shut down” the author and defended trans rights. She wrote in the caption, “Can’t say I feel very shut down, but keep at it, Pedro. God loves a trier.”

Rowling shared the post a few days after Pascal gave a sprawling interview to Vanity Fair, during which he and his older sister Javiera Balmaceda discussed his earlier comment about Rowling. Pascal said, “The one thing that I would say I agonized over a little bit was just, ‘Am I helping? Am I f—— helping?’ It’s a situation that deserves the utmost elegance so that something can actually happen, and people will actually be protected. Listen, I want to protect the people I love. But it goes beyond that. Bullies make me f—— sick.”

In April 2025, the UK Supreme Court ruled in favor of the legal definition of a woman based on biological sex. Rowling subsequently took to X to share an image of herself smoking a cigar. “I love it when a plan comes together,” she wrote in the caption. Writer and activist Tariq Ra’ouf then shared a video on Instagram criticizing her. In the comment section of the post, Pascal wrote, “Awful disgusting s— is exactly right. Heinous loser behavior.”

Notably, Pascal’s younger sister, Lux, came out as a trans woman in 2021, and the actor has been an advocate for trans rights for a long time.
