Charlize Theron Comments on Jeff Bezos’ Wedding Guests

Charlize Theron has recently taken a jab at the extravagant Venice wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez. Speaking at the fifth annual Block Party for the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project on Saturday night, “The Old Guard 2” star did not hold back in calling out the Amazon founder’s flashy nuptials and its high-profile guest list.

So, here’s everything you need to know.

Charlize Theron says Jeff Bezos’ wedding guests ‘suck’

Charlize Theron began her speech by addressing the lavish nuptials of Jeff Bezos. “I think we might be the only people who did not get an invite to the Bezos wedding. But that’s OK because they suck and we’re cool,” joked the actress.

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez tied the knot on June 27, 2025, at the San Giorgio Maggiore church in Venice. The couple also organized several private parties, including a The Great Gatsby-themed gala and a pyjama party. Numerous A-listers were in attendance, including Bill Gates, Leonardo DiCaprio, Oprah Winfrey, Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, Ivanka Trump, and more.

Theron continued by thanking guests for “taking the time to be a part of this, especially when the world feels like it’s burning because it is. Here in Los Angeles, in the U.S. and across the globe, we’re moving backwards fast.”

The Oscar-winning actress then went on to strongly criticize the US immigration policy, stating that it “has destroyed the lives of families, not criminals; women’s rights are becoming less and less every day; queer and trans lives are increasingly being erased; and gender-based violence is on the rise. This isn’t just policy, it’s personal.” As the crowd erupted in cheer, Theron passionately added, “Yeah, f*** them.” (via The Hollywood Reporter)

The lavish wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez drew widespread media attention not only for its high-profile guest list but also for sparking public outrage. Protesters in Venice came together to demand that Bezos pay more tax. Most notably, the international environmental group Greenpeace unfurled a massive banner featuring Bezos’ face with the line: “If you can rent Venice for your wedding, you can pay more tax.” Local activists group No Space for Bezos condemned the wedding as a “symbol of the exploitation of the city by outsiders,” declaring that “Venice is now just an asset.” (via BBC)
