Blake Lively’s legal team is celebrating “total victory” after Justin Baldoni dropped his $400 million lawsuit against her. This follows the judge’s decision to dismiss Baldoni’s countersuit. Now, Baldoni has opted not to revise or refile his claims following the court’s dismissal.
Blake Lively’s reps declare legal success after Justin Baldoni decides not to refile $400 million lawsuit
Blake Lively’s team has declared a legal win now that Justin Baldoni has chosen not to refile his $400 million lawsuit against her.
The $400 million lawsuit was dismissed by the court, but Baldoni’s attorney initially claimed this was not significant. They stated that they intended to revise and refile the lawsuit. That refiling never happened. Instead, Baldoni’s legal team has now stated that they are pursuing “additional legal options” instead of amending the previous claim.
In light of this development, Blake Lively’s representative issued a direct statement through JustJared.com. The statement read: “The Court dismissed the frivolous $400 million Baldoni-Wayfarer lawsuit in its entirety. In the days that followed, Baldoni’s lawyer said the judge’s decision to dismiss their case was not a big deal, as they promised to amend and refile it. As per usual, that was not true. The Court’s dismissal of Baldoni’s sham lawsuit was a total victory after all.”
Despite the decision not to move forward with the original countersuit, Baldoni and his team are not backing down entirely. His lawyer has confirmed that they are considering other legal recourse. Bryan Freedman told Page Six, “The Court’s decision on the motion to dismiss has no effect whatsoever on the truth that there was no harassment nor any smear campaign, and it does not in any way affect our vigorous defense against Ms. Lively’s claims.”
The legal conflict began when Lively filed a lawsuit accusing Baldoni, her It Ends With Us co-star and director, of sexual harassment and of orchestrating a smear campaign targeting her. In response, Baldoni filed a countersuit for $400 million, naming not only Lively but also her husband, Ryan Reynolds, as well as filing an additional suit against The New York Times.
